The Grants Pass High School Chamber Orchestra performed beautifully along with JBO musicians on stage in our season-opening concert series today! The inaugural JBO Student Encounter outreach, funded generously by a grant from the Carpenter Foundation, was led by JBO Director, Dr. Abigail Mace and coached by JBO musicians Abi Wilensky, Juliet Long, and Nancie Linn Shaw. The Grants Pass High School Chamber Orchestra is under the direction of Krista DeBolt.

Esther Platt grew up in Ashland playing violin in YSSO, RVS, and Siskiyou Violins, studying with Faina Podolnaya. At 17, she participated in the National Youth Orchestra of the USA. Esther then completed degree programs with scholarships in Violin Performance in Michigan and SE Florida. In Florida, she was a member of the Palm Beach Opera and many other ensembles. Now she is back in the Rogue Valley Symphony (Associate Concertmaster) and also plays in the Britt Orchestra, Eugene Symphony, Oregon Ballet, and other ensembles. Abigail Wilensky is a professional violinist local to the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon. She is currently in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s production of Come From Away, and served as Concertmaster in the 2025 production of Into the Woods, as well as Hairspray and Oklahoma! in previous seasons. She has served as Assistant Concertmaster and Principal Second Violin with the Rogue Valley Symphony, as well as Capellmeister and soloist with the Jefferson Baroque Orchestra. Abi holds an MA degree in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy from Cleveland Institute of Music and a BA in Violin Performance from. Vanderbilt University.

Before settling in Seattle, Vicki Boeckman resided in Denmark from 1981-2005, first as a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, later collaborating with some of Denmark’s most celebrated musicians and contemporary composers. In the Pacific Northwest Vicki has been a featured soloist with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Yakima Symphony, Portland Baroque Orchestra, The Oregon Symphony, Portland Opera, Medieval Women's Choir, Gallery Concerts, Boise Philharmonic, and the Skagit Symphony.

JBO 2026-2027 Season Reveal: MOTETS & MADRIGALS, MAY 1 & 2, 2027

JBO’s chamber choir and recorder ensemble perform sacred motets and secular madrigals from the Renaissance through the late Baroque. We start our tour in Italy and make our way northward through France, Germany, and England, exploring works of Palestrina, Gesualdo, Arcadelt, Praetorius, Schutz, Bach, and more.
