"Inspired by Adversity and Beauty"
Hedith was a devoted mother, focused on raising her children and dedicated her entire being to her family. She had an affinity and talent for art and enjoyed working with her children on their school art projects. Shortly after her last child was born she started to experience acute pain and swelling in her hands, feet, knees and back. These symptoms continued f
or many years and became progressively more severe. She eventually progressed to the point that she could no longer walk and was confined to a wheelchair at the age of 38. One of the other effects of her ailment was that her fingers and hands weakened and became very painful and swollen. In early 2003, still living in Caracas, Hedith began taking painting lessons in her home with a private instructor, Naty Valle, a fine artist, (sculptor and national award winner in fire arts in Venezuela who exhibited her work at the museums of Bellas Artes and Arte Contemporáneo in Caracas, Venezuela), as a form of art therapy, to keep her mind occupied. This therapy benefited Hedith's mind, body and soul, providing her with a source of beauty and a sense of accomplishment on which to focus her energy and talents. Hedith and her husband moved to the United States in 2014. Over the past twenty years, she has expertly honed her skills to become an incredibly talented artist, who despite her physical limitations, patiently and adeptly creates richness of color and depth of soul in each of her paintings. Hedith frequently spends up to 10 - 12 hours per day painting. Hedith Perdomo’s artistic mission is to seek out a sense of calm and tranquility through the observation and representation of nature. Many of Hedith’s childhood memories are embodied in each one of her paintings, and in turn, they evoke deep emotions and personal memories for viewers. Website: https://hedithperdomo.com/
