When living on an island it is hard to imagine a life without the beauty of the sea. I often think of the first time someone experiences the majesty of the ocean, the roar of crashing surf, the sweet sea-salt air and the thrill of a powerful pull against bare legs while wading. WHEN FIRST SHE SAW THE SEA is my expression of the thrill of everyone's "first".

Spring has sprung and so have the blooms in my studio! Big and bold yet delicate in detail each one of these pieces are as bright and fresh as the blossoms they represent.

A spring road trip through France, filled to the brim with unruly rows of sunflowers in fields as far as I could see, inspired these two quite different approaches to a single theme. One painting has a more contemporary "pop" mood while the other is reminiscent of an "old world" style. Both very large pieces will be loaded to the site as soon as I can say "good-bye".

THE ART OF CHOCOLATE!
Travel and art go hand in hand for me. Those who create, never disappoint. This was true for the artist who created these whimsical window displays in Lecce, Italy.

Speaking of travels to New Mexico and a starry overnight stay in Roswell, site of the UFO crash of 1947, I thought I would share my other worldly pieces. As a believer, my NEBULAS are a salute to both Carl Sagan and Steven Hawking. Two great men who are responsible for my very stiff neck. After all, if you don't look, you don't see.

More art from Ghostwolf Gallery in Albuquerque, NM. So sorry to the wonderful acrylic artist who's name I did not get. These pieces are big and bold and make a wonderful grouping. I am definitely inspired today.

So with the recent news of other worldly visitors, a trip to Roswell, New Mexico seemed in order, just in case. I spent my sixty-eighth birthday in the desert, under the night sky, gazing upward with anticipation. Nothing. Maybe next time...

Meanwhile, my quest for artistic inspiration in the deserts of New Mexico continues...with the help of some friends.

What do you say when her eyes say it all?

This work was definately inspired by the depths of my daughter's eyes as well as the loveliness of her character. NICKI BLUE EYES simply celebrates a mother's love for her girl and those"baby blues".

A big "thank you" to our friendly hostess, Denise Weaver Ross at Ghostwolf Gallery in Old Town Albuquerque, NM.

Her vibrant art and enthusiastic explanation of her inspiration and emotion in each piece was very interesting. You can see more of her work at [email protected].

Thank you again, Denise for being part of my extended family of artists around the world.

In Albuquerque, NM even the wildlife is colorful!

While in the area I stopped by an all women's exhibit at Ghostwolf Gallery in Old Town. What a treat and well worth the online visit to ghostwolfgallery.com.

GETTIN' QUIRKY IN ALBUQUERQUE!
Last month I visited Old Town Albuquerque, NM on a trip of creative discovery to see what fellow artists in the south are doing. This work by Amy Ditto at [email protected] was part of a one month, women only exhibit that was filled with creativity and colors galore. This subtle piece (wink wink) made it home with me on a T-shirt that I can barely contain in my denim jacket.
