Confession time. I haven’t always been the dinosaur guy. For 30 years before the dinosaurs took over, I made my living as a Magic Mr. Nick. Last night I went back to my roots for a little while, and I had a blast. Don’t worry, the dinosaurs are still in charge.

Rumors of my magical retirement have been slightly exaggerated…told you I’d still pop up. Last night I had a great time performing at the AutoZones corporate event downtown Memphis.

Dinosaur Takeover headed out for a theater night. 🎭

Tonight I’m going to see Lightwire Theater, and I can’t wait. If you haven’t seen them, they tell stories with glowing characters that move through total darkness. It’s part puppetry, part dance, and all magic.

As someone who brings dinosaurs to life for a living, I love seeing other artists find new ways to make an audience gasp. I’ll be grinning like a kid the whole time.

🦖 Look who came face to face with a T. rex. 🦖
Our little dino buddy went on a big adventure at the Adventure Science Center, and let’s just say he was a LITTLE starstruck meeting this giant skull. 😂 Those teeth. That jaw. That smile. (Okay, maybe it’s not a smile.)
We love visiting places that get kids excited about science, fossils, and the amazing creatures that walked the Earth millions of years ago. A day of exploring and learning is a good day for us.

So THIS is what happens when the boss is at another fair.
No supervision, full access to the dinosaurs, and apparently zero fear of being eaten. I’m halfway across the country where I can’t catch them, and my crew turns the lot into a prehistoric playground. Do I approve? Unofficially, I have watched this about nine times.
But here is the truth behind the pre-open goofing off: these folks work their Dino tails off for me and for our fairs every single day, in the heat, in the rain, in the early mornings and the late tear downs, with a smile on their faces. For that I am blessed beyond measure.
