Under the Brim

Finished this new piece today — all mystery, movement, and quiet confidence. Loved bringing her to life through the hat, the hair, and that bold red lip.

“Dallas, Born of the Flag” — a patriotic skyline painted in honor of my son, Dallas, who arrived on Flag Day and has carried that spirit with him ever since. Red, white, and blue reflections, a night sky brushed with quiet light, and a name that means even more to me now. A gift for him, from me.

Finished my newest piece, Where Books Grow. This painting celebrates the way books and plants both invite us to slow down, breathe, and keep growing. It’s full of color, light, and the kind of peaceful energy you find in a good library. Excited for it to join the college campus soon! 😊

Something colorful is happening in the studio—books, plants, and bold shapes coming together for a new piece headed to a college library. Still early, but I’m loving the direction so far. Can’t wait to share more!

“All my paintings are unfinished.”

This feels like one of the most devastatingly beautiful full-circle moments for his character. We watched Benedict drift through seasons of self-doubt, battling imposter syndrome, abandoning canvases because nothing ever felt complete or worthy. That blurry, unfinished blue version of her on his canvas wasn’t just art, it was confusion, longing, and a dream he couldn’t fully grasp.

And then the transition to the fully realized, breathtaking portrait of her unmasked changes everything. It’s not just that he finished the painting, it’s that he finally understood what he was searching for. She wasn’t the muse he imagined, she was the truth standing in front of him all along, and for the first time, his art feels whole because he finally is.

“Golden Garden Whispers” was such a joy to paint. The background lives on the back of the glass, while the dandelions float on the front, giving the piece a soft, layered glow. I added gold accents to echo the frame and bring everything together. Loving this bright, whimsical finish.
