Many plaques and markers indicate the history of the Old Courthouse. This marker reads, "It's easy to smile when someone cares. This old courthouse and 120 acres of land on this site of historic Tascosa was the gift of rancher Julian L. Bivins, March 1939. His interest and desire to help youth is reflected in all boys who live and learn here."
