Thank you for Sharing as we have some of her dolls she made in the museum..
Ya' at' eeh (hello)
My name is Fannie Kee.
I am 87 years old.
I was born on May 4th, 1933
underneath a juniper tree.
I am a Navajo from a community south of Gallup New Mexico called Red Rocks
(Tse Lichii)
My clans are Tsi' na' agjiinii
(Black Sheep Forest People),
born for Ta ' chiinii
(Red Running Into Water).
How did I start making dolls?
When I was a teenager my grandmother, Lilly Morgan Pete, encouraged me to learn how to make dolls.
I learned how to make dolls from watching and observing my grandma.
My grandma did all her sewing by hand and that's how I learned how to sew.
My adoptive mother always told me
"T'aa hwo' aji t' eego"
That's a Navajo saying meaning
"if it is to be, it is up to me".
They always said if I learned how to make dolls that I would have money and it will help me support my family in the future when I become a parent.
Now, many years later I have made thousands of dolls and sold them all over.

TRADITIONAL EASTERN CHEROKEE:
There are East and West. The Eastern Cherokee is based in Cherokee, North Carolina and the Western Cherokee headquartered in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Meanwhile, the Hollywood heavyweight Wes Studi is a Western Cherokee. FYI, prior to the "Trail of Tears", there was no East or West, just Cherokees in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama.

The Utes call themselves the people of the horse. As the first unconquered tribe to obtain horses and livestock, they became respected warriors of the Southwest.
The Utes quickly became known for their great horsemanship skills and were responsible for spreading horses among other tribes in the Plains, Plateau and the Great Basin. At one time every child growing up on the reservation knew how to ride a horse; it was a point of pride. Handling horses was both a tradition, a survival skill and a practical way of transportation.
The horse and its essential role in the history, culture and economy of the Ute people are revealed in these historical photos from the museum’s permanent exhibit. They tell the stories of how the horse transformed Ute peoples from hunter-gatherers living in small family groups to tribes that moved at will over hundreds of miles, trading, hunting, raiding and growing stronger
