Hello hello!! It’s been sooooo long since I’ve updated you all….The last leg of senior year had me busy, but now I am back and so ready to get you up to speed!

Since you last heard from me:

🖼️I displayed my series ‘Madwomen’ in the 2022-23 Fall BFA Exhibition at the SAIC Galleries in downtown Chicago

📚I presented and defended my thesis “Hoes & Woes: R**e Culture’s Influence on Women Beyond the Image” which is now published through the John Flaxman Library

🎨 I finally GRADUATED with my Bachelor’s in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in Art History!

🏠 And most recently, I was accepted to and started a graduate program for my Master’s of Science in Historic Preservation!!

I’m so excited to see where this next chapter takes me and actually get into some hands on preservation work! Follow along for the journey!💕💕

🌟Art vs Artist ~ 2022 Highlights🌟

As 2022 comes to a close and 2023 opens, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and just be so so proud of all the growth I’ve had in my practice this year

In 2022 I…
🌟Started the marlsartly pages and posting my art
🌟Landed a spot as a book conservation mentee
🌟Went on a dream trip to Italy & visited museums
🌟Had two gallery openings and my first art show
🌟Sold my first round of prints
🌟Was accepted into an artists collective
🌟Donated my profits to women’s rights charities
🌟Had my historical reproductions published
🌟Wrote my first art historical critical lit. review
🌟Completed half of my thesis

2022 was a year of making strides, and I wanted to thank you for supporting my work in the many ways you do and making it possible for me to continue to make my dreams a reality!

✨🥂Here’s to 2023, another year of growth🥂✨

4 years ago I had my first final critique as a freshman at SAIC on the 1st group of oil portraits I’d ever done…✨This year✨ I exhibited a series of 6 portraits along with 3 frames quotes and pamphlets in the BFA Exhibition at the SAIC Galleries!!

Looking back at work I made that I remember hating and feeling like wasn’t going to get better, to then being able to curate an exhibition of my own work that focuses on topics and techniques I’ve fallen in love with the last 4 years definitely makes all of the struggles, all-nighters, and dirty brushes worth it!

💕Progress is slow and hard to see when you’re looking at it up close. Step back and take the time to be proud of your progress. Growth is relative💕

Another of what’s working on my easel right now! Any guesses on who this influencial woman of history is?? (Hint: there’s a contemporary play coming out about this figure that’s causing a lot of publicity and backlash) 🤔💕

The last of my line work drawings for the upcoming antiquities auction finally come to a close with this massive Roman Attic Red-Figured Krater Column
From 5th century B.C.!

This piece was so challenging due to the shape of the pot, how it distorts the image, and the restoration efforts that have lost some of the detail, plus it’s always hard to take creative liberty when a piece has such familiar imagery, but I’m so proud to see if finished! 💕

✨Sneak peek Sunday✨
Here’s a little glimpse of what’s on my easel right now! I have 26 days to tell the stories of some of history and myths forgotten and misrepresented women. Who do you think is first??
💕Thanks to the artist for letting me use her reconstructions as a reference!💕

💕My first art show as an independent artist is officially in the books! 💕

I sold out of my 11x14” prints of all four pieces and sold a good chunk of my singles!

It was so amazing to see my work on the wall next to other successful artists’ work and to mingle with local artists outside of SAIC. Reggies was an awesome venue and incredible host, and the energy was absolutely amazing, I can’t wait to go back!
