An important message to our dear friends, collaborators, and audience members: it is with heavy hearts that we announce the permanent closure of The Right Brain Project.
While we were eager to bring you our 15th season in 2020, the world had a different plot twist in mind. Subsisting as a small, non-profit theatre has never been easy, but these new slings and arrows we suffer – that we ALL suffer within this industry – present a challenge outside of The RBP’s current capacity.
As we prepared this announcement, RBP Company Members were encouraged to send in their favorite things about our small-but-mighty troupe. Reading over their words, two themes were overwhelmingly present and ever connected: The People (who offered collaboration and friendship) and The Home (we forged together).
And THAT is the persisting magic behind The Right Brain Project – that its participants not only protected and loved the work, but did the same for each other. We created learning spaces where vulnerability was celebrated and passion was infectious. Where failure just meant you needed to try again. And again. Fearlessly.
We are now presented the opportunity to forge new creative families, but The Right Brain Project will live on in the artists who called it home. We are forever grateful for the hundreds of artists who collaborated with us, the stellar venues that staged our events, our generous donors, and of course, our loving audiences and peers.
Thank you all for allowing us to make magic for 15 years. This home will never be forgotten.
