"There was a magic about the sea. People were drawn to it. People wanted to love by it, swim in it, play in it, look at it. It was a living thing that was as unpredictable as a great stage actor: it could be calm and welcoming, opening its arms to embrace it's audience one moment, but then could explode with its stormy tempers, flinging people around, wanting them out, attacking coastlines, breaking down islands. Our passion for art is equally matched by our desire to make a difference! In 2016 Ari had the great honor to spend some memorable moments teaching art and putting smiles on little ones faces when she volunteered at the low income Ararca School in Cartagena, Colombia. She gave the children art classes at the school library, which was created by Arriba las Manos & continues to operate thanks to the dedicated founders of that non-profit. The little ones loved being creative and discovering the magic of art 😊

"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
