Sharecropping was like slavery under another name. After a while, the Sharecroppers owed so much money to the plantation owners they had to give them all of the money from cotton that they earned.

A wartime order proclaimed by union General William Tecumseh Sherman on Jan 16, 1865 was to allot land to freed families. Despite efforts of radical Republicans during the reconstruction period. However, significant land distribution measures were abandoned and virtually were returned to white owners.

Jesus has risen with him in “newness of life (Romans 6:3-11)” synonymous with regeneration, as being synonymous with Christian perfection that empowers a person for Christian life and service.
