Important Information (Please Read)
A map of our camp has been posted for everyone to see. The Commandos will be set up between the British and Canadians this year. I believe this is similar to how we were set up in 2023. Per the posting, when you do arrive, please check in with Comapny HQ. The duty officer will then direct you to set up. Members from the East Coast Commandos should be on-site as early as 1:00 pm on Wednesday.
In a meeting in July with Command Staff, information was passed along that the event is becoming even more strict about boat manifests. This year, the Commando Section Commander (Neil Hobbins) will be coming by each group early each morning to write down the boat manifest. When Neil comes to your sub-section please make sure you have your registration card as well. Neil will record your name as it appears on the registration card. Each sub-section will need to make sure that all members who land each day have their name on the list that Neil Hobbins will submit. Neil has tried to create a streamlined form to make this as quick as possible. Sub-section leaders can help as well by setting up a good routine time for Neil to come by each morning when all members will be present. Thank you all for your cooperation as this becomes an increasingly important part of the event.
The final information to pass along is about ammo. Lt. Andrew Camp (British Platoon Commander) passed along this information in an email to all participants. He wrote, “Regardless of whether or not you are using bandoliers, please bring all blank ammunition loose or on stripper clips in a clear plastic ziploc bag clearly labeled with your full name.” You will then have your ammunition issued back to you each day. The Combined Operations Living History Association tried to help stream line this process with each member having a specific plastic bag and all members will submit the ammunition for the unit inside their own ammo crate that has been clearly labeled with the unit name.
If anyone should have any questions, please feel free to message here. You may also reach out directly to Neil Hobbins (Neil Scott on Facebook) either on his own personal profile or through email at [email protected] or through his phone at (856) 981-8825.
Looking forward to seeing everyone that will be a part of the Commando Section at some point next week. Safe travels to all and see you in Ohio!set
