Paulding County Historical Society Our Purpose:

To collect, preserve, and share history related to Paulding County, Georgia and the surrounding area.

The museum is currently open the second Saturday of every month from 10am - 1pm. It is also open by appointment by calling (678) 318-1394 to make arrangements.

The building that now houses the Paulding County History Museum was originally the first schoolhouse in Dallas. For many years it functioned as an Academy for the children of Dallas and the surroundin

g countryside. In the 1890’s the building became a residence and was later acquired by the First United Methodist Church of Dallas. Recognizing the historical significance of the building the Methodist Church donated it to the Paulding County Historical Society in 1995. On January 19, 1997, the school was moved to its current location at 295 North Johnston Street. There, it was restored to it’s near original condition and dedicated as the Paulding County History Museum on June 13, 1999. More information is at our website - pchsm.org

Adults 55 and better join us for Paulding County history on the Fourth Friday at the Paulding County Senior Center Library, 210 Paulding Lane, Dallas, 11AM, June 26.

This month we will talk about our county’s namesake John Paulding and his role in the American Revolution. We will also share historic images of the Courthouse Square in Downtown Dallas.

Join us at the Georgia Archives on Friday, July 10 at 12 pm, for our next Lunch & Learn with genealogist Larry W. Thomas.

He will discuss how researchers can uncover the lives of Revolutionary-era Patriots, Loyalists, refugees, and frontier families in Georgia using indirect evidence and lesser-known records.

The program is free and open to the public, and no registration is required.

It was nice to see all the people that came to the Little Red Schoolhouse Museum today to learn more about our local history! We had a good mix of old and young with new residents and long time residents. Thank you Joe for your interesting presentation, and to Marilyn for your delicious cake.

Today is the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. We remember and honor our fallen soldiers and veterans.

This military operation, Codenamed Operation Overlord, came at a heavy price, with Allies suffering an estimated 10,300 casualties (killed, wounded, or missing) on the first day. Despite the devastating losses, the Allies successfully secured a foothold in France, allowing them to push inland, liberate Paris by August, and eventually force an unconditional German surrender in May 1945
