Here’s a cool preview of what’s going on upstairs during an eclipse, although this sequence is not actually an eclipse. You can see the moon has a slight shadow on the right so the sun is not directly behind I think. Also the moon is really far from Earth so any slight angle to its orbit means it usually misses casting a shadow on Earth, and hence, the rareness of an eclipse…
