I live in Northern Michigan. We take cherries seriously around here. For many years, we had an old, wild cherry tree at our house that would yield, some years, 40lbs of cherries. So, of course, at the beginning of my pattern journey, they were at the top of the list of inspiration. Farmer's markets are part of summer culture up here and they are really all the best things to be had. I am thinking of those days, even as the snow falls!

So, actually, this is my design for .coil
I was rushing yesterday. I wanted so much to actually submit, but the templates were in Photoshop, and I only have Illustrator. I could not figure out how to make it work. I gave up and posted with the "viel" over my actual design. I just wanted you to see the real thing...
Alas, patience is not one of my virtues and in frustration I make mistakes. C'est La Vie

This year, I am pushing myself to put my work out there. I love planners and journals, and .coil is the best of the best. So this is my 2026 entry to the cover competition.

I went back to the beginning and my favorite watercolor motifs, Vine&Branch is a timeless botanical watercolor design, my absolute favorite palette, evoking those overgrown garden days, when the temperatures rise and everything is verdant and green!

I really need to touch and feel ideas. So, when patterns begin to come together, I need to order samples and prototypes. Queen Anne's Lace means so much to me. My history with this flower begins as a little girl and slow summer cottage afternoon walks with my grandparents. I can still see the sun glittering through the evergreen trees, the blue water in the distance, and the quiet, calm content of those days. What a gift. Later, as I worked briefly in the floral industry, Queen Anne's lace was an absolute favorite. It grounds more formal flowers and adds the needed bit of WILD and whimsical. Today, I collect the seeds and propagate them so they become more abundant wherever I am. I use them as soon as they arrive in every bouquet. Sometimes all alone. Sometimes in formal vases, just because. So this little pattern is born out of a lifetime of love. Love for quiet walks, love for elements of wild and whimsy, a love for things that are so beautiful in their delicate, quiet ways... and these little pieces delight my heart.

These verses are two I write out often. They assure me, and I feel the love of our Lord. If you have followed along my creative journey for very long, you know that I love surrounding myself with God's word.

Linen is so beautiful. While I was trying many different fabrics for my patterns, I never found anything I loved as much as linen. It had to be a natural fiber. It had to be enduring, and it had to be sustainable. I love the way it becomes softer and the print patinas. I love the drape and hand. This bright, happy Spring pattern is called "Mirrored Tulips".

We are coastal Great Lakes and we are North Woods. So my palette sometimes feels Mediterranean while my subject is fresh water lakes surrounded by evergreens and maples. The seeming contradictions make perfect sense to me!
Only 100% European linen of course...

In 2024 and 2025 I was investing in my pattern design and opening a beautiful artisan home accessories boutique with my mom. I have never stopped painting but I did not have the bandwidth to show my current work, with the exception of a handful of pieces at The Robin Nest . It is time for me to retire all my prints, clear out my studio and prepare to share with you the pieces I have been working on! I can't tell you how exciting this is! If you have followed me for awhile you know that it is better if I don't set dates, so all I will say is that there are things happening! In the mean time check out the sales on my website! We have a thing about cherries in this part of the world... it is an absolute delight to pick and eat fresh cherries right off the tree. The color is absolutely stunning against dark green leaves. This is the grown-up, more refined version of the roadside farm stand cherry patterns that are often seen. It is deep, rich reds and layered, ripe cherry clusters. It was one of my first patterns and has seen several revisions as my skills increased. I love working with ! They use modern technology, organic, sustainable practices and have luxurious quality fabrics! They even handle the creation of this beautiful, European linen pillow cover for me. They are absolutely wonderful! What a gift to have such a partner in creativity!
