The end of and era and an Enosburg landmark. Due to the roof overhang that was added to the barn 40 ish years ago, the water running off the roof has caused substantial rot and water damage. The current owners of the “O’Shea” house have been spending their free time bringing the house built and occupied originally by Olin Merrill back to its former glory. Removal of the added roof resulted in the entire wall added to the original barn door opening for the County Courier coming down as an unintended casualty. The original sliding barn doors still remain on the property and will be restored and put back where they belong in the coming years. Efforts will be made to save the sign, however the paint has curled and flakes right off. Fun fact, this barn is exactly the same as the barn at the 1906 house!

Are you passionate about history? Love our little town and want to preserve our past for future generations? Or do you love to meet and greet people, socialize, just get out of the house for a few hours? If any of this appeals to you, the Enosburg historical society could really use your participation. While we are grateful for the many due paying members and generous donations, and those who have donated their time in some way, the number of “active” members has been shrinking. We would like to encourage citizens to become active members. This may be minding the museum on a Saturday for a few hours while open to visitors, or becoming a member of the board or planning committee. Helping set up a table at an event in Lincoln park, or Abe’s cabin or even writing a story for the quarterly news letter. The small but mighty group taking on all these tasks needs your help as there are only so many of us to go around. Reply to this post and we can talk about how you can help
Thanks

Trying the keep up with the times, we are looking at alternative ways people can donate and pay annual membership dues. Venmo seems to be all the rage these days. Would you be more inclined to make a donation or pay your dues with an electronic payment system like Venmo, PayPal, or Apple Pay? We want to hear from you on this. Thanks
