I do not remove colour.I specialise in black and white, and the shades in between.

My art begins and ends with black ink, an ink I make myself from charred lotus petals. The petals I find in Cambodian temples. Within that single hue lies infinite depth, the spectrum between shadow and light, silence and breath.

I see my art as white with black impressions, where the ink merely enhances the purity of the paper, with each mark an echo of intention.

Black and white hold clarity. They reveal the essence of form, texture, and spirit. Every mark, every pause of the lotus stalk, becomes part of the dialogue between stillness and movement. In this simplicity, I find complexity. In this restraint, freedom.

I will delve into the creation of my ink another time, so until then, please visit my profile or join my mailing list to hear more.

NEW SHOW ALERT!!

Chain Reaction
A group of international artists have come together to create a World class art installation and community art event to share in select cities around the globe.

Artists from eight countries, the 14 members of International Online Art Collective (IOAC) are bringing their art to Eugene. Their project, “Chain Reaction”, opens in September at The Hybrid Gallery. This will be the final US venue before Chain Reaction continues its tour overseas. Previously, galleries in Jamestown, NY, Washington, DC, and Miami, FL have hosted these multi-media events.

The collaborative art installation will be on display at The Hybrid Gallery Sept. 5-Oct. 12, 2025. A free-to-the-public opening reception with refreshments and a chance to meet the Oregon-based artists included in this show will be held Sept. 12, 5-8PM. Public art events leading up to and during the show will be held in conjunction with the exhibition.

A free “Mini Chain” community event will allow those of all abilities and ages to create their own Chain Reaction inspired by the exhibit on Sept. 13, from 10AM-1PM. (All materials provided.)

A virtual panel discussion with the international artists will take place in the Gallery Sept. 14, 11AM-Noon.

The Chain Reaction exhibition will also be featured during the Last Friday Walk on Sept. 26, 5-8 PM.

Chain Reaction is a global art collaboration by International Online Art Collective (IOAC) reflecting 14 artists’ ability to inspire each other through art. The project, documented in video and print, includes a magazine, behind-the-scenes video and artist’s narratives explaining the inspiration for each link in the chain.

New art stuff! New techniques! New ideas! New inspiration! This month International Online Art Collective’s Oregon members, Susan and Greta are each presenting in person workshops . A big part of the IOAC experience has been collaboration and exchange of ideas. The Chain Reaction show, which opens at The Hybrid Gallery on September is a prime example of how artists influence each other. Learn from two of the best, generously sharing their secrets in a fun, playful way. You’ll leave with a head full of new, creative ideas!

News from IOAC member Wendy Bale: "Visions of National Parks and Beyond" is an art show in Warren, Pennsylvania, which includes my paper cuts and paper sculptures alongside the works of three painters and two photographers.

My original hand-cut paper illustration was used for the posters and other promotional materials for the show. See this and over 70 additional artworks celebrating our national parks and public lands. The exhibition runs through Sept. 7 at Crary Art Gallery, 511 Market St., Warren, PA.

Bee reveals! Bee week continues on the IOAC feed with a few of the illustrations I made for the bee display in Jamestown, NY. The 22 layered papercuts are housed in a wooden display electrified to light up when you push the corresponding button. In honor of World Bee Day, I’m sharing this sneak peek before its return to public view later this summer. (Opening reception 8.1)
