Another successful Boo at the Zoo in the books today with 884 Boo-Bags given away! Even more than last weekend! Adding in the Night Bazaar with Folkways on Thursday and last weekend's Boo at the Zoo, we have given away over 1,858 Boo Bags with books for kiddos, parents, and treats for all. The Red River Zoo

We also have a big celebration that we have raised $11,510 (23%) of our goal for the Play Mobile Trailer campaign. Our team has our eyes on a used trailer that would put us much farther ahead towards our goal but we want to be at $20,000 before taking the plunge.

🚐 It’s official! The surprise is out, and Great Plains Children’s Museum is making plans to in Spring 2027 with YOUR help!

Until we have a permanent building where families can gather and play, our outreach is limited to what we can fit inside a board member’s vehicle or transport in a rented U-Haul. A Play Mobile trailer would change that.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to:

✨ Purchase an enclosed trailer
🎨 Add a colorful Great Plains Children’s Museum wrap
💡 Complete the flooring, lighting, electrical work and interior fit-out
🧡 Add experiences featuring light, air, construction, nature, sensory and pretend play
🔧 Purchase the equipment needed to safely operate and transport the trailer

The Play Mobile will bring hands-on play to daycares, schools, groups, parties and community events throughout our region. Early campaign supporters will also receive first priority for 2027 bookings!

What a SPOOK-tacular first 👻Boo at the Zoo at The Red River Zoo.

We handed out over 764 Boo Bags!!! Each bag held a Book from our book rescue program, a Treat, some handouts from Fargo Cass Public Health and a bit about our latest effort to GO MOBILE!!

8am-5pm and only one casualty with the breakdown of our trusty rusty dolly 😞 plus some pretty sore feet.

At Boo at the Zoo when the daylight is through,
The bats wake up with a job to do.
They flutter and swoop through the cool autumn night,
Using their ears to help guide their flight.

Some munch on insects, some nibble on fruit,
Some pollinate flowers while out on their route.
They’re fast, important, and wonderfully small,
There’s so much to discover about them all.

At Boo at the Zoo, come stop and see,
How busy the nighttime world can be.

🎉 2️⃣ YEARS‼ 🎉 We hit a huge milestone this month. It's been a wild journey to get here but we are so excited to share that Great Plains Children’s Museum is officially 2 years old this month.
