Kevin Kresse, a sculptor based in Little Rock, created this piece after consulting with friends and family to fully embody Levon Helm. 🎶 As an Arkansas native, Kresse knew the importance of commemorating who Helm was and why he was so important to the music scene in Arkansas.
The bust was unveiled in 2018 at Levons childhood home, now located in Marvell.

Levon’s legacy continues to live on here in Northwest Arkansas and also where he grew up. 🧑‍🌾 “The idea for the Levon Helm Down Home Jubilee was born out of a love for music and a desire to bring people together. We wanted to create an event that celebrated all genres of music and provided a platform for both established and up-and-coming artists to showcase their talent.”

Ceramics stands as one of the earliest forms of artistic expression. Originating from China, the oldest known pottery dates back nearly 20,000 years. Initially crafted solely for practical use, these pieces evolved to display stylistic differences and period defining motifs. The invention of the wheel in Mesopotamia around 3,500 BCE revolutionized the trade, becoming an essential tool in the creation of functional and aesthetic pottery. Our current gallery exhibit featuring works by the Larkin Family of Arkansas showcases how functional pottery continues to be created and used today.
