The museum will be closed on Friday for health appointments that cannot be changed. The museum will be open regular hours on Saturday and Sunday this week. Our last day for the 2026 season is Sunday, November 15.

After an inspiring series of America 250 events at Tower Park this past week, the museum staff will be taking Sunday as a day to recover from the celebrations. The museum will be closed Sunday but will reopen Friday, July 10, at noon.

Please join us inside the Mess Hall at 4pm for the D.A.R. Bench Dedication. We have moved the ceremony inside due to the heat. Stay cool, and see you at the Mess Hall at 4pm.

UPATE 7/2 10:30am - The D.A.R. Bench Dedication will be moved INSIDE the Mess Hall due to the heat. The ceremony will still begin at 4pm and the reception will follow after.

Thursday, July 2nd, the Mary Ingles Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution will be hosting a bench dedication at the Fort Thomas Museum at 4pm. This commemorative bench serves as a lasting tribute to the men and woman who have courageously served our country. We would be grateful to have veterans, their families, and members of the community join us as we dedicate this meaningful memorial.

The museum will be open until 5pm for those who would like to walk through after the ceremony. Following the ceremony, we would like to invite all veterans and their families to the Mess Hall from 5-8pm for an “Honoring Our Heroes” reception. Come together and share stories as you enjoy some refreshments provided by the D.A.R. and Veterans & Friends Coffee Club as well as ice cream sponsored by Tracy Davis-State Farm Insurance Agent.

Walk through history with a timeline of Fort Thomas and U.S. history created in collaboration with the Fort Thomas Museum, NKU’s History Department, and Living Magazines. There will be dioramas, historic photos, posters from World War I and World War II, and military artifacts on display.

We want to thank all veterans for their service and sacrifice. You are our heroes!

The museum will have different hours for Independence Day weekend. Friday, July 3rd the museum will be open from 1-4pm. Saturday, July 4th the museum will be closed, and we will reopen Sunday, July 5th from 1-4pm.

We will have a historical timeline on display along with other artifacts, photos, and posters inside the Mess Hall for an America 250 exhibit. The Mess Hall will be open for the public to view that exhibit on Wednesday from 3-6pm, Thursday from 5-8pm, Friday until 4pm following the Charters of Freedom ceremony that begins at 12pm, and Saturday from 5-10pm.

The air conditioning is not working at the museum today and conditions are not healthy for anyone to be in the building. We are closed today and will remain closed until the A/C is working again. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The Fort Thomas Museum opens for their 2026 season today at noon!

The Museum will be open Fridays and Saturdays from noon until 4, Sundays from 1 until 4, and are available for private tours by appointment. Stop by and see all the history and new exhibits of our cool city!
