Let's draw together!

FIGURE DRAWING AFTER HOURS AT GAC
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 6 - 8 PM

Join Garrison Art Center for a two-hour figure drawing session with a live n**e model. Work from a series of short poses and enjoy wine and seltzer as you settle in for an evening of focused creativity. This is an independent, open studio-style session—bring your own materials. A limited number of easels will be available.

This event is only for individuals 21 years of age and older.

Garrison Art Center will be closed today, Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Enjoy these local events taking place today.

Beacon's 4th Annual Juneteenth Riverfront Festival takes place at Pete & Toshi Seeger Riverfront Park on Friday, June 19, from 11 AM - 5 PM. Presented by Beacon4BlackLives and Bosco & The Storm, this free, family-friendly event features live music, dancing, games, and over 40 vendors!

Peekskill’s 2026 Juneteenth celebration features three days of events, anchored by a vibrant downtown parade and festival on Saturday, June 20, 2026. The festivities include community gatherings, local vendors, historical education, and musical performances spanning Park Street, Main Street, and Pugsley Park.

The City of Newburgh hosts its Sixth Annual Juneteenth Freedom Day celebration on Friday, June 19, from 12 - 7 PM in Downing Park (123 Carpenter Avenue). The free community event features family activities, local vendors, and live musical performances.

A week from today, join us next Thursday, June 25, 5 - 7 PM, for Garrison Art Center x Desmond-Fish Public Library Opening Reception for ROOTS at Desmond-Fish Public Library.

Inspired by Garrison Art Center’s summer theme, Rooted: Art and the Natural World, and the Desmond-Fish Public Library’s summer reading theme, Unearth A Story, this exhibition considers the many ways we connect to the world around us—through landscape, material, and time.

Through this collaboration, we aimed to highlight the rich connections between art, storytelling, and the natural world—inviting artists and viewers alike to look more closely, dig more deeply, and discover new ways of seeing.​

​This exhibition will be on view at Desmond-Fish Public Library, June 25 - October 25, 2026, and was juried collaboratively by both institutions.

Final few days to see Mara Baldwin's exhibition 'Rover' at Garrison Art Center. Be inspired and experience this remarkable exhibition before it closes this Sunday, June 21. All exhibited works are available for purchase.

Gallery is open Tuesday - Sunday, 10 AM - 5 PM.

While summer camp is often remembered as a carefree rite of passage, Baldwin approaches it as a subject worthy of deeper reflection. Her work considers both the tenderness and the fraught joy of searching for identity within communal spaces. Through this lens, she also examines the histories of exclusion embedded in outdoor and camp traditions—including colonial legacies, class divisions, and forms of white feminism—reflecting on how spaces once meaningful in childhood can simultaneously alienate q***r and trans communities today.

This project is made possible through a Support for Artists Grant by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

smallWORKS returns to the galleries at Garrison Art Center this fall, inviting artists to consider artwork as a passageway — a frame through which we glimpse something beyond. Presented alongside INSCAPE / OUTSCAPE in the Balter Gallery, a curated exhibition drawn from The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation, this year's smallWORKS takes inspiration from that show's meditation on how environments shape our ways of seeing and being in the world.

Submissions may reference artwork as a kind of window, open to both representational and abstract interpretations. Whether peering inward or outward, intimate or expansive, works are invited to explore how the plane of an artwork can become a threshold.

​Open to artists 18 and older working in 2D and 3D media, submissions must be no larger than 12 inches at the longest dimension (frame excluded) and no heavier than 35 pounds. Works must be framed, ready to hang, and created after 2023.
