Jimmie Rodgers passed away on May 26, 1933. 💙Known as the “Father of Country Music”, he is one of the most important figures in American roots music. He was also known as “The Singing Brakeman” and “America’s Blue Yodeler.” 🚂

The first performer inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, his plaque says it best: “the man that started it all.” 🎶

In observance of Memorial Day, City of Gautier offices will be closed Monday. City Hall, Planning, Parks & Recreation, and Public Works will reopen Tuesday, May 26, at 8 a.m.

As we enjoy time with family and friends, let us never forget the heroes who gave everything for the freedoms we cherish every day. ❤️🤍💙
