“Lady Bear and Clown”

Danger does not always arrive looking like a threat.

A man wears the face of a bear because it makes him seem safer than he is. Beside him stands the clown, the guilty bystander, caught in the oldest excuse: It wasn’t me.

This painting is about disguise, complicity, and the lies people tell to escape blame.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to my open studio this weekend. Your presence, your conversations, and your support mean the world to me.
Together, we found new homes for so many pieces of my art — and thanks to you, I’m now on my way to my upcoming trip to Portugal!
I’m posting photos of most of the artwork that sold (though I’ve realized I forgot to snap pics of a few pieces in the excitement — if you’re one of the collectors who took one of those home, I’d love to see a photo of it in its new space!).
I feel incredibly inspired and lucky to have such a wonderful community around me. Obrigada! 🇵🇹❤️

I'm so pleased that my work, "Ziggy and Other Extraterrestrials," and my husband, Chris Towle's "Ziggy" bronze sculpture, are part of the Santa Monica Art Museum's exhibit "A Day with David Bowie". On exhibit until August 31st. The exhibit centers around the photographs taken by Christine de Grancy during Bowie's visit to the Art Brut Center in Gugging - outside artists whose raw expressive art deeply moved him.

I’m so frustrated with him. I can’t get him to stay in one place never mind standing still for a pose.
I should have known better. During the interview to be my model he said he was a “free spirit”. I should have read more into that.

Apparently, not satisfied with being my model, the entrepreneurial spirit has gotten hold of Zilch and he is selling some kind of “Mystery Gift” door to door. My advice is to not answer if he comes knocking on your door. This is simply outrageous behavior, I would kick him out but I haven’t finished the series I’m doing based on his likeness, so I am stuck. He’s been caught on camera selling his “mystery gifts”. Take this as a warning not to humor him!

I just learned that a group of my works were lost in the fires in Altadena. While they are gone, they are not forgotten. My thoughts are with the collectors and their beloved pet—I’m so thankful they are safe.

I’m honored to have been interviewed by the Pasadena Star News about the devastating Altadena fires and the heartbreaking loss of the iconic Bunny Museum. Losing my piece "Retired Easter Bunny" in the fire was deeply personal, but it also reminded me of why I love being part of California’s vibrant creative community.
The Bunny Museum wasn’t just a quirky local treasure—it was a celebration of imagination, individuality, and the free spirit that defines this beautiful state. In the article, I share my reflections on its impact and my hope for its rebirth. I’m proud to support its revival by donating a new original painting when the doors open again.
To help rebuild this beloved institution, the Bunny Museum has started a GoFundMe campaign. If you’re able to contribute, your support would mean so much to restoring this magical space. Together, we can help it bounce back stronger than ever.
