One of our absolute favorite musicians turns 71 today! The incomparable Eddie Jobson is a powerhouse on both violin and keyboards playing with the likes of Curved Air, Roxy Music, Frank Zappa, UK and more. We were absolutely delighted to have Eddie in the building in 2019 during our Keith Emerson tribute concert. Even more exciting was how much he unexpectedly lit up our Yamaha GX-1 that night. If you have the chance, go see his UK Revisited show. You won't be disappointed! Happy Birthday Eddie!

Tickets are now on sale! At MMT on Tuesday, May 19th, we're hosting our next workshop on the subject of electric pianos. Instruments like Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Hohner, RMI and more!
Our in-house educator Mike Kiker takes you through the history of these fine instruments, the inventors and stories behind their creation and the songs and players that used them for their own unique tones that made the most lasting impact on the sound of keyboards and popular music. And you'll get to spend some time with some of these storied instruments from our collection. https://tickets.themmt.org/events/mmt/2176042

And go to themmt.org to get more info on this workshop, scheduling tours and other events happening around the museum!

Happy 78th birthday to jazz fusion keyboard virtuoso, composer, producer and 2021 EMEAPP Award Winner Jan Hammer! You might be most familiar with his work scoring the TV show Miami Vice, but his work with Mahavishnu Orchestra, Jeff Beck and his solo work in the 1970s is some of the finest and most creative keyboard and synthesizer playing you're ever going to hear. And we're happy to have Jan's Mahavishnu-era Fender Rhodes piano as part our collection among many other fine instruments. Go give his collaborative album "Like Children" with Mahavishnu Orchestra violinist Jerry Goldman a listen today.

Today we celebrate the life of inventor and synthesizer pioneer Don Buchla on what would've been his 89th birthday. His unique inventions in the world of synthesizers and later MIDI controllers have inspired some of the most creative musicians the world over. And we have several of these creations in our collection including a few prototype modules, the rare Marimba Lumina Gold, Don's personal Easel Weasel and much more!
If you're a fan of Buchla, you absolutely have to come check out our upcoming Buchla Exhibition, Instruments That Talk Back starting this September. Go to our themmt.org or emeapp.org to learn more!
Happy Birthday Don, you are missed!
