Kansas City resident Charlie Childs speaks on the evolution of the railroads in Kansas City. In this lecture, he focuses primarily on KC's West Bottoms and the massive rail yard supporting the second largest stockyards in the country, the same stockyards that brought forth the horses, mules, and oxen that supplied the wagon trains heading west.

One of the museums young volunteers, Dennis, put his tender loving care to this old Marx steam engine that he found in one of the collections that was donated to the museum. Once again, our talented volunteers are bringing back life to old models so the museum can continue to showcase these items. Great job Dennis.

Special guest hit the iron rails at the museum today. Great Northern "Empire Builder" passenger train. June is BN railroad history month. Come and visit us and take in all the history of the BN which will include the fallen flags roads and the merger to BNSF.
