This summer, Pretend City Children’s Museum teamed up with OC Waste & Recycling to bring hands-on vermicomposting education to young learners!

Through interactive presentations and activities, kids explore how worms help recycle food scraps into nutrient-rich compost, learning firsthand how small actions can make a big impact for our planet!

Together, we’re making organics recycling fun, engaging and accessible for the next generation of environmental stewards.

About the play partner:
OC Waste & Recycling serves the County’s solid waste disposal needs by providing waste management services, operating public landfills, protecting the local environment, investing in renewable energy enterprises and promoting recycling in order to ensure a safe and healthy community for current and future generations. OCWR also provides education, outreach, and sustainability programs that help residents reduce waste and support state and local mandates.

Join us Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM – 4 PM for hands-on play, creativity, and summer fun for the whole family.

*No early entry for members on Tuesdays

Make sure to visit our immersive summer exhibit Wonder Studio! Families are invited to paint, sculpt, build, and explore without limits.

This summer, art isn’t something you look at—it’s something to experience together. Every visit brings something new, where creativity grows through art, movement, and play.

Today you helped us highlight the rich traditions, art, and language of Vietnamese culture. Families were able to learn, dance, and sing together. It was truly beautiful. 💫✨

Pretend City is OPEN Tuesdays for the summer! Join us Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM for hands-on play, creativity, and summer fun for the whole family.

6/2 - OC Waste & Recycling is bringing hands-on vermicomposting education to young learners! ♻️🪱🌱 Together, we’re making organics recycling fun, engaging, and accessible for the next generation of environmental stewards.

6/5 - Join us and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County as we encourage little ones to be active members of society. This volunteer opportunity will encourage and open the platform for children to be able to package fruits that will be sent out to real families in need in Orange County.

6/6 - Celebrate the diversity of families in our world and provide them with a space to artistically represent themselves!

6/11 - Celebrate the World Cup with a special storytime and activities at Pretend City featuring ¡Gooool!: A Soccer Book for Kids by Sí Sabo Kids. Families can enjoy soccer-themed fun, meet the authors, and attend a book signing.

Pretend City Children’s Museum has officially opened Wonder Studio, our new immersive summer exhibit, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

We were honored to celebrate alongside City of Irvine , representatives from , , and the , Pretend City Councilmembers, donors, members, community partners, and friends of Pretend City.

Wonder Studio invites children and families to paint, sculpt, build, and explore through hands-on art and play. More than an art exhibit, it’s a space where children can express themselves freely, follow their curiosity, and transform from art observers into artists themselves.

Thank you to our donors, Applied Medical, , and , and everyone who helped bring Wonder Studio to life and to the families who will fill this space with creativity, imagination, and joyful exploration all summer long.
