Filling in an area of loss with gesso on this early 1900s oil painting to prep for inpainting.

I wanted to write a caption about how we work on ceramics AND paintings of ceramics, but couldn't put together something witty enough. There's a joke in there somewhere 😶

You are looking at "The Dark Vision of Xerxes", 37/50. We were graced with the opportunity to work on something with an edition in the Smithsonian.

The print came to us with foxing, mild amounts of loss and yellowing due to acid in the paper. This picture was taken before any work was performed.

Fun fact about this piece; TDVoX is the first piece in which Carol Summers experimented with using mineral spirits in his printing process to create a watercolor-like effect.

Emojis are crazy, aren't they? You can have an entire conversation with emojis- never saying a word, but still conveying a message.
