From the archives: Rita Deanin Abbey in her Las Vegas Boulevard and Hoover Street studio, 1981.
Surrounded by jars of pigment, rolled materials and a work in progress, Rita stands at the center of the space where ideas became form. At the time, she was developing her Aleph Beth series, a body of work inspired by the shapes, meanings and visual rhythms of the Hebrew alphabet.
This intimate studio portrait offers a glimpse into Rita’s working process and the focused experimentation behind her practice.
A moment with the artist, captured in the place where her work came to life.
