What was the inspiration behind Paw Prints?
Well, the answer is simple. If we are just talking about dogs and cats, only 20% of animals find a home. The other 80% are euthanized. To put that into perspective, about 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized in the United States each year. The vision behind Paw Prints is to not only decrease this statistic but also help all animals in need because ALL ANIMAL LIVES MATTER. If you love animals, you know that they are all just children, with fur (or scales). It is not right that 1.5 million dogs and cats do not deserve to live because of the mistakes of humans.

- What are these mistakes?
It is a plethora of things. Irresponsible pet owners do not neuter/spay their pets, and as a result, said pets have offspring that the pet owners are not aware of. Said offspring become homeless and are left to wander the streets, or worst case scenario, death. On average, one un-neutered/un-spayed pet leads to 14 homeless offspring. The offspring grow up on the streets, which then leads to exponentially more homeless animals.

- So, how can we do better?
Be a responsible pet owner, simple as that. Be sure to neuter/spay your pets, and if you ever feel like you cannot take care of your pet, DO NOT leave them in the streets to wander. Lastly: adopt, don’t shop. Purchasing a pet because you enjoy a specific breed simply means that a stray animal has a higher chance of being euthanized. The shelters receive very limited funding, and especially in today's harsh economic conditions, they are forced to make decisions that hurt them more than anyone.

- Why art?
As much as it sucks to see suffering animals, we should not help them with the lens of pity, but instead, we should help them because we want to keep the happiness and joy they bring us. Instead of watching a sad ad of a homeless puppy, we can change the world through art. Art that makes you smile, warm, and puts a great talking point in your home.
