Visiting Hours
Tuesday - Friday: 10 am - 6 pm
Saturdays: 10 am - 2 pm The Center is to open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. The Place Where Creativity GROWS! Visit our website for more information on visiting, planetarium shows, art exhibits, and so much more!

LASC isn’t simply a place where children see animals. These animals have homes at LASC and are part of the educational experience! Our eco-educators give children and adults alike the unique ability to understand living things, their natural habitats, the food they eat, and what it means to be responsible for creatures big and small.

Donations do more than just feed our animals; they sustain the educational environment in which they reside! Five axolotls, three fire belly toads, two snakes, one bearded dragon, and so many more species all live under one roof with a common goal: provide an up-close learning experience for all ages!

Possibility lives in a classroom.
Possibility lives in a studio.
Possibility has scales, gills, floofs, and fins.

2026 Art by Nature: From Concrete to Creek

The 2026 theme: From Concrete to Creek 

Where does the water go when it rains? We are exploring the ways stormwater moves through Lexington. This year's theme focuses on stormwater best management practices (BMP). Stormwater BMPs are devices or methods of controlling stormwater in an urban area. They slow the water down, filter pollutants and sink it back into the ground.

Most of our featured locations are past LFUCG stormwater quality incentive grant projects.

Closing reception | Dec. 12 | 11 a.m. – noon

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our LASC team are wearing purple today to show support for all survivors of domestic and sexual violence 💜

There are so many ways you can take action to support the Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition of Lexington’s mission to create a culture of safety through advocacy, education, collaboration, and service coordination for communities impacted by interpersonal violence — be sure to find out more about programs like Green Dot training, It’s Time Lexington, and ways you can directly donate during a time when federal funding for survivor services are being cut.

Candidates should have a love for animal welfare and education, enjoy hands-on work, and take pride in keeping all our eco-educators clean, safe, and comfortable.
