This portrait is extra special for a couple reasons... First, this is a portrait of my best friend’s dog, Leo. I met Leo the first week Liz brought him home when he was an itty bitty puppy that could fit in the palm of my hands. 🐶 Second, this is the first painting I have worked on, let alone completed, since losing Janie three months ago. After everything happened, I completely stopped working on any artwork until about a month ago when I picked back up with this portrait. It feels good to have a new piece completed.

Thank you for trusting me to capture Leo’s personality in this portrait. I am beyond honored that this will be hung in your house. 🥰

I’ve always loved chestnut colored horses, but painting them is next level. All of the gorgeous shades of amber are 😍😍 as my first attempt at painting a horse portrait, I am very pleased with how this one is going! For perspective, the size of this original is 22x30”, which is the largest painting I’ve worked on since college!

I had a full day to paint today! I went back and forth on this one, and am slowly making some progress. Had to step away a few times so I don’t overwork this. Tomorrow I may start on the little details before putting much more into the body of the horse. 🏇🏻
