Tsongas Industrial History Center The TIHC is an education partnership between Lowell National Historical Park and the University of Massachusetts Lowell School of Education.

We offer school field trips and teacher professional development. We offer unique field-trip programs and teacher workshops that incorporate hands-on activities and the authentic resources of Lowell National Historical Park. Our interdisciplinary approach brings history and science to life for students and teachers. We present education programs in classrooms and offer teacher professional develop

ment programs. We now also offer virtual field trips. Our professional educators facilitate virtual interactions that offer all the energy and engagement of TIHC’s in-person programs.

Over the spring semester, UMass Lowell Graduate students in the SWIMMER (Sustainable Water Innovations in Materials, Mentoring Education and Research) program worked on creating engaging hands-on activities for some of the Industrial History Center ’s different target audiences based on topics they learned about in class. After incorporating some feedback from our staff, the students presented some truly amazing activities, from D&D-style card games about implementing green policies, to building Lego Watershed models! We’re looking forward to incorporating their work into some of our upcoming programs. Thanks SWIMMERs!
