I’m incredibly honored to have been appointed to Mableton’s inaugural Historic Preservation Commission ❤️

It’s a privilege to serve our community in this volunteer role and help preserve the history and character that make Mableton special.

An HPC helps: 🏛️ Protect historic buildings, landmarks, and places that tell our community’s story. 🌳 Encourage thoughtful preservation as our city grows, ensuring future generations can appreciate Mableton’s unique heritage.

There are still a couple of open volunteer positions! If you’re passionate about Mableton’s history and preserving its character for the future, I encourage you to get involved.

Early voting is here! This is an important election where you’ll decide the next governor of our state, so get to the polls. And I know we don’t like taxes, but this is a teeny tiny one that I promise you won’t feel it, but it’s an impactful one set to bring in $1B for the county, so Vote YES on SPLOST.

Our neighborhood “Front Porch Friday” took a different and historical twist for October! 🍂

Instead of gathering at a home, we gathered at Barber Cemetery in Historic Mableton for a sunset tour led by a neighbor with a passion for genealogy who also volunteers with the Cobb County Cemetery Preservation Commission.

We learned about this quiet family cemetery and the generations of families whose stories are part of Mableton’s history. It was a special reminder that history isn’t always found in museums—it can be tucked away in the places right around us.

Together, we wandered, listened, shared stories, and appreciated the peaceful beauty of this historic resting place. And as if the evening couldn’t have been more perfect, we were rewarded with a glorious sunset. 🌅

I’m really usually listening to a pod cast or audiobook. 🤣

I recently listened to a recording of the late Wendell Berry who read a short story called Requirements. The story and his answers to the Q&A portion after his reading is making me feel both validated but also think slightly differently about how I approach community and being a good neighbor.
