For those who use AI to get your posts seen, and for those of us who have dropped out of the algorithm, here is an explanation. Please note:
Copied:
Because while you were warming up the stage lights, small business Pages started getting a quiet little notice: two link posts a month. Not two a day. Two a month. On some Pages, a link dropped in the comments counts against that too.
Want more? Subscribe to Meta One for Business. The top tier starts at $499 a month.
Let me translate that into Upper Peninsula. That's the woman beading earrings at her kitchen table. The guy sharpening chainsaws out of his garage. The muralist, the baker, the handyman, the indie author. For a lot of them, $499 is more than a month's profit. And you rolled this out heading straight into the holidays, the one stretch of the year that keeps the lights on through March.
The big news publishers? Exempt. Of course they are.
So here's the feed you're building: the neighbors people actually chose to follow get rationed to two doorways a month, and the empty space fills up with whoever can afford the toll.
You didn't build what makes Facebook worth opening. We did. Every craft group, every community page, every "anybody know a good furnace guy?" thread. That's the asset. You're charging rent on a house we furnished.
So from every small shop that got the notice: consider this post the one gesture you can't put behind a paywall.
And to my friends: if you love a small business, don't wait for the algorithm to hand it to you. Bookmark their site. Join their email list. Share their posts. Sharing is still free.
For now.
