New Orleans Hip Hop History 🎥

The first known recorded music video on record is “Teachers” by E.R.C. (Lavell’s Fountain)and L.R.C. (Lester Parker). The catchy, sing-along track teaches how Columbus “discovered” America. This was filmed in the mid-80’s in a classroom at Judah P. Benjamin Elementary School in Hollygrove. It was directed by Brian Bagneris’s (rapper 211) mother who was a founding member of the Cox Public Access TV program.

I was 12 or 13 years old as an extra in the video and can vividly recall the exciting moment that perhaps sparked a llight of inspiration in me to pick up a camera.

A historical moment in a room full of Hip Hop pioneers đź‘‘

This cover for Joe Blakk’s Blood Sweat and Tears album is an actual fine art photograph with Joe as the model that I shot in Cox Cable’s rear parking lot. I received a nod from the famous jazz photographer who studied the image for about 5 minutes silently. 📷
