Saw Elizabeth Catlatt’s major Retrospective Exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. She was a brilliant Artist and captivating Activist with a Vision and Clarity of Purpose to portray both through many forms of expression over a long and successful life and career. Brava!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “The Harlem Renaissance, Transatlantic Modernism” which opened February 20th is an excellent Exhibition in concept, scope, artists and memorabilia. Wish it included more photographers and music of the period. Really worth viewing. Enjoy.

James Phillips, Howard University Art Professor and the only surviving artist of the Studio Museum in Harlem’s 1st 1971 Artist in Residence Program is in exhibition until Feb 2024 at the Gibson Art Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. His precise vision gloriously color filled, in jazzy Afrocentric paintings and tapestries are special abstractions and worthy of viewing.

At the Opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “Tudors” Exhibition. Here’s the famous Hans Holbein portrait of Henry VIII, his daughters in war for the throne, young Elizabeth I, older Mary I with his nemesis, Sir Thomas More. All more poignant with the death of Elizabeth II. Long live William III of the House of Burgess!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition of South Carolina Potters from indigenous Indians as early as the 1500’s to enslaved African Americans of the 18th and 19th centuries is captivating and shows the rich traditions of clay sculpture pottery making in North America up to the present day.
