📍La Salvada, Vermelho Melides, Portugal🇵🇹

A collaborative effort between two of the greatest designers of this generation, and , the Vermelho Villa sits amongst wildflowers and shines like a jewel along Alentejo’s Atlantic Coast.

La Salvada sleeps 4 guests and features a pool, outdoor fireplace, air conditioning, and a rooftop terrace with an uninterrupted 360º view across the fields and the sea, making for a quiet, contemplative, and meditative getaway. Its design pulls inspiration from Moroccan architecture, with a smooth palette of pinks contrasted by cool blue tile-work, dancing around the salvaged wood and high ceilings.

This is just one of the architectural marvels of Shamma, who has frequently collaborated with Louboutin on boutiques, retail displays, and iconic home spaces. His style taps into the beauty of geometry and seamlessly embodies the Mediterranean.

Happy Earth Day from The Cultivist🌍

Built for the 1964 World’s Fair, “The Unisphere” was designed by Gilmore D. Clarke, and serves as a centerpiece for the fair’s theme - “Peace Through Understanding.”

This monumental sculpture weighs 900,000 lbs, and stands at 120 feet (37 metres) and is a part of the World’s Fair Collection, on long term view at the .

The Unisphere has now become an unofficial symbol of Queens, which is widely recognized as the most ethnically and linguistically diverse urban areas in the world. With nearly half of it’s 2.3 million residents born outside the USA, representing over 100 countries and 138 languages, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting symbol for a place that encompasses so many of the Earth’s cultures.

Let us know in the comments where you’re tapping in from, and Happy Earth Day

April 15th is and it’s not an accident that it lands on da Vinci’s birthday. UNESCO’s International Association of Art chose the date because Leonardo stands as a shorthand for what the holiday is meant to defend. Curiosity without borders. Art as a form of thinking. Creative expression belongs to everyone, everywhere, and deserves the same protection we give to language, science, and heritage.

So we went looking, to celebrate creativity on this World Art Day. 7 works, 7 continents, across every gender, genre, generation, and medium we could fit. Cave painting and contemporary film. Manga and Bonded Marble. A woman in her seventies, and an illustrator mid-career. Stone, snow, oil, ink, cotton, and digital brushes. Here’s what we found.

Heading to Dallas for the Art Fair? Here’s where to look, linger, and get a little lost this week.

From Brad Oldham’s mirrored sculptures scattered across DFW to Rauschenberg’s sculptural side at the Nasher (catch it before April 26), Rashid Johnson’s sweeping survey at the Modern in Fort Worth, and Francisco Moreno’s first solo museum show at Dallas Contemporary. Plus Rachel Mica Weiss at Caravalho’s booth and the third edition of the Dallas Invitational taking over the Rosewood Mansion.

Save this one for the week ahead.
