Bunnycutlet Gallery

Bunnycutlet Gallery Art Gallery (NYC) BUNNYCUTLET was founded in 2012 in Brooklyn, New York. Founder and owner Liz Artinian is a 17-year career animation art director.

Exhibiting paintings and sculptures, Bunnycutlet promotes emerging artists with ties to animation, comics, and illustration. The gallery’s aesthetic embraces figurative art, pop culture themes, and an exuberance that is off-beat, baroque, and surrealist. Our passion is to give artists who employ these visual principles an advocate in New York City. She began curatorial career as an independent cur

ator at the Stay Gold Gallery in 2005. For nearly a decade prior to opening Bunnycutlet, Liz curated pop-up exhibits throughout New York City. In March of 2014, Bunnycutlet closed its Brooklyn location -- the gallery is currently on a hiatus. Until it reopens, Liz is independently curating at several galleries in New York City, as well as finishing her stint as the painting-supervisor for the Adult Swim animated series "The Venture Bros" at Titmouse Animation. Today's post for Bunnycutlet Presents 7 Artists: 20 Features in 20 days, is this close up of , a 36 x 24 inch oil & iridescence painting by Miami based artist Jean-Paul Mallozzi. The full image is also released on the artist's website www.jeanpaulmallozzi.com.

Bunnycutlet Gallery owner Liz Artinian first met Mallozzi in 2007, at Titmouse Cartoons , for a potential animated-project collaboration. Though Mallozzi's style has evolved significantly since, what caught Artinian's eye, and is consistent with his work now, is the artist's masterful rendering technique and ability to push color relationships to unexpected, provocative places. Mallozzi evokes vibration vs. stillness in his subject matter, compositions, colors and media choices. This will be Mallozzi's first time exhibiting with Bunnycutlet and the Cotton Candy Machine.

is opening THIS Friday, Jan 16th at Cotton Candy Machine 7-11pm.

Playing major catch-up today with our promo series, Bunnycutlet Presents 7 Artists: 20 Features in 20 days, is this sneak peek work-in-progress of a painting by frequent Bunnycutlet Gallery contributor Kelly Denato. This image was also released on Denato's FB and instagram .

What has always inspired us about Denato's work is the combination of tumult and delicacy. Her lighting evokes a ghostly quality, sometimes making them appear to glow from within -- and her subjects, deeply personalized, are often entangled, floating, and at the mercy of Denato's repressed fears and hopes.

Opening (This Friday) Jan 16th at Cotton Candy Machine 7-11pm.

Today's feature is this sneak peek of a work-in-progress by New York-based artist Kristen Liu-Wong.

Bunnycutlet Gallery first exhibited Liu-Wong in the Nov-2013 group exhibit, curated by Jordin Isip, and we instantly fell in love with her work. Employing , , and , Liu-Wong's paintings are candy-like and gleeful. Her imagery, which is often wicked or disturbing, is offset by her vibrant color and media choices. Liu-Wong takes inspiration from traditional art, but interprets imagery through her lens of contemporary urban life.

2 new works by Liu-Wong will be on view for , a group exhibit curated by Liz Artinian, opening Jan 16th at Cotton Candy Machine.

Today's 7-Artists-In-20-Days feature is this full-image release of "The Quiet Battle," an 18 inch square acrylic, mixed media, and metal foil painting by Canadian-born artist Ryan Heshka.

's influences, apparent in his work, are , , magazines, 50s B-movies, , and the powerful forces of nature. His work explodes with energy, yet is often carefully staged, wittily incorporating typography and , evoking the sensibilities of a Wes Anderson movie or the paintings of frequent Bunnycutlet Gallery contributor Chris George. This will be Heshka's first time exhibiting with and Cotton Candy Machine.

7 works by Heshka will be on view for "Bunnycutlet Presents 7," a group exhibit curated by Liz Artinian, opening Jan 16th at .

Today's 7-Artists-In-20-Days feature is a sneak peek of a work-in-progress drawing for by frequent Bunnycutlet contributor .

Karacas is the co-creator and director of the Adult Swim animated series Superjail! His drawings often employ simple media, like 2B pencil on 36 inch roll paper, and his lines are clean and smudge-free. By contrast, his imagery is chaotic and complex, energetically exploding into meticulous landscapes of cats vs. robots, embroiled in comic violence.

New work by Karacas will be on view for "Bunnycutlet Presents 7," an exhibit at Cotton Candy Machine, curated by Bunny Cutlet.
Opens Friday, January 16th, 7-11pm (2015)
