They will learn as they grow older to love and care for their own children and not neglect them." The National Black Doll Museum of History & Culture has one of the largest collections -- if not the largest -- of dolls of color and related items in the United States. The physical museum, which was forced to close in 2020 due to COVID, was the first of its kind in New England, the second in the cou

ntry, and possibly the largest in the world. As we look to reopen in a new location, we are online with more information than ever at www.nbdmhc.org. Whether as a building and/or virtually, we are dedicated to several objectives:

To preserve doll history and culture by presenting the art of dollmaking and collecting through workshops and lectures. To stimulate an interest in African American history by revealing the little-known, often-neglected facts of history with visual stimulation. To provide a resource library of information for doll research and the documentation of printed material, photographs, and audio recording
To support and work in conjunction with other nonprofit, charitable organizations in an exchange of exhibits and educational workshop. The Black Doll Museum is the brainchild of sisters Debra Britt and Felicia Walker. Daze Project and Museum Inc.", in 2006.

Good Afternoon Facebook Family
As I continue to heal, reflect and regain strength, I am reminded that history is not just what we read about it's something we carry within us.
Every struggle survived, every barrier broken, every lesson learned becomes a light for the next generation.
Today, I am reminded that education is the key, knowledge is power and sharing the truth is an act of love and community. When we pass stories forward we preserve courage, culture, wisdom and legacy.
Our ancestors endured so we could learn.
We learn so others may grow and together we move from the past through the present into a stronger future.
Let us continue to teach, to listen, to care enough to share the truth
Because history forgotten can be repeated.....
but history remembered becomes POWER.

Good Afternoon Facebook Friends & Family,

In every movement, leadership rises when something meaningful needs to be done. Right now, our poets have stepped forward, using their voices not only to inspire, but to help uplift and encourage healing during this season of recovery.

I am truly covered by their words, prayers, and blessings. Poetry has always carried power — the power to comfort, restore, motivate, and heal.

So on the 23rd step out and experience the healing energy that comes through the Art of Poetry. Let the words move your spirit, renew your strength, and remind us all that creativity and community are powerful medicine.

Good Afternoon Facebook Family – Day 5: Movement & Healing ✨

Today, movement looks a little different.

Not every step is a march.
Not every movement is loud.
Some days… movement is healing. 💚

As I continue recovering from surgery, I’m reminded that slowing down is not stopping—it’s restoring strength for what’s next. The journey isn’t always pretty, but it’s purposeful.

Today we reflect on the power of self-determination through Malcolm X

🔥 “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”

That stand doesn’t always look like protest.
Sometimes it looks like choosing yourself.
Choosing to heal.
Choosing to rise—again.

🌿 Today’s Movement Message:
Healing is movement.
Rest is resistance.
Recovery is part of the revolution.

So today, I honor where I am—not just where I’m going.
And I’m still moving… just with intention.

We got this. 💛

Good Morning Facebook Family ✨

It’s May 1st… and we’re stepping into “The Month of Movement.”

Progress may be slow—but it is progress.
The pain is real, and it isn’t always pretty. But through it all, positivity is everything. We’re still here. Still pushing. Still moving through the eye of the storm.

Yes, I missed a few deadlines.
Yes, I had a Plan B , but it has its own challenges.
But one thing I know for sure—JOY comes in the mourning- morning.

And this morning? We rise again. 🌿

May is more than a month—it’s a reminder.

A legacy of people who stood up and moved forward:
✊🏾 Labor rights
⚖️ Civil rights
🗳️ Voting rights
📚 Education
👑 Women’s rights
🌍 Human rights
Health Care

As we watch the beauty of spring unfold, let it ground us in something deeper—
Respect the work of those who came before us.
Be intentional about the work we do today.

Every step forward matters.
Every story matters.
Every “sip of memory” reminds us why we keep going.

We’ve got this. 💛
And we’re moving—with purpose.

100 Years of Black Excellence: Celebration & Self
**Featuring Lucille Clifton

📜 “won’t you celebrate with me
what i have shaped into
a kind of life? i had no model…”

Lucille Clifton’s poetry is quiet power—gentle, honest, and deeply transformative. In *won’t you celebrate with me*, she invites us to honor not perfection, but survival… not ease, but becoming.

Born in New York, Clifton became one of the most celebrated voices in American poetry, known for writing about Black womanhood, family, and the strength found in everyday life. Her work reminds us that even without a roadmap, we can shape something beautiful from our experiences.

At the National Black Doll Museum, this doll reflects that journey—crafted, like Clifton’s words, with intention, resilience, and love.

🪆 To exist fully, to grow, to rise—
That is worth celebrating.

💭 What have you shaped into your own kind of life?
