Laid my super snooter to rest yesterday. Atticus Hinton James was the sweetest, and arguably stinkiest, 90 lbs cat trapped in a greyhound’s body that ever walked the earth. He was a terrible race hound and was retired at 2yo. It took a year for him to decide to run again and once he did we understood why he lost so many races. In a world of running laps around an oval track, Atticus preferred to run a figure 8.
I have found myself walking through the house starting to call for him. To shuffle him from one room to the next. He loved a rug, blanket, mat. Anything but bare ground. He loved stealing cardboard, and the kids small plastic toys. He loved apples and was well known for his ability to swipe butter from the counter and swallow it whole in under 3 seconds. He was the ideal height for sneaking sips of your coffee, tea, or wine. He had the sweetest teeth chatter when he was happy, loved to stick his nose in unsuspecting visitors crotches, and had the best greyhound leans. To him there was no such thing as too much attention. He was my sweet boy and it was an honor to love him for the last decade.
