the year is 1976, our country's Bicentennial and the hot idea all over NE Ohio is a time capsule. Two time capsules were created by Union Carbide and placed outside city hall that year. One to be opened in 50 years and one to be opened in 100 years. And the opening of the 50 year time capsule coincides with our city's 200th anniversary ! so join us on June 6th for the unveiling of the time capsule and there will be a display of memorabilia from the historical society inside city hall for residents to enjoy.

Not to worry…. we are making some major fence upgrades at Stearns Homestead to the front pasture to insure a safe spot for the horses. Thanks to our great city workers for tearing out the old fence ( a huge cost savings for us) to make way for the new fence coming soon. Our goal is to replace all the fence on the property in the next few years. We appreciate all the support from our farm friends that help with monetary donations to accomplish our goals.

a nice aerial shot from the 1950's of Thoreau Park Elementary school who just celebrated their 100th birthday. The streets at the top are Theota, which was still under construction at the time, Lincoln and Russell. and notice the rows of "cookie cutter" houses. That is our post war housing boom.
