Here's a letter written by an airman to his fiancee back home.

Hello Skip;—
You Darling, I could have the pants off of you for writing such sweet letters. I am happy when I come in and find a letter from you but when there isn't any— O! boy! off goes the roof. √
It's rained about all day and I haven't done a thing but sat around. We have to be on the job anyway so I'd rather fly. Too bad I don't have a bunk so I could sleep.
A Lieutenant and I went to a show tonight here on the station. Don't worry about other women. The women here are ugly, conceited and they won't give an Ensign a tumble.

Besides that I'm not interested for I love you.
Honey, I planned on you staying about four or five days. I really want you to come for I want to see you and I have so much to tell you. It's been ages since I left Dallas. It's been ages since I left Dallas and, baby, you sure have been on my mind. The only thing I hate about you coming is that you'll lose your job. You will have to decide about that. I get a thrill just thinking about you coming, so get ready for I'll be sending for you before long.
Dammit I can't think of anything to write so forgive me, Skip. Just remember I do love you always.
P.S. Bennett says hello.
Frank
P.S. ji. What?! No pictures?
Tell all hello.

Found this heartbreaking WWII letter dated July 3, 1944, written by Marine Pfc. Walter Waloshinsky to his buddy Wally. Just weeks later, on July 21, 1944—the very first day of the brutal Battle to retake Guam—he was killed in action.
In it, he chats about chow, old friends getting married, lost teammates, and hopes of reuniting after the war… never knowing he wouldn’t make it home.
A raw, personal snapshot of a young life cut short in the Pacific. Rest in peace, Walter. 🕊️

Lt. Kreutz (1919–1943) enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1937 as soon as he was old enough. He attended college at Loyola University, where he earned a degree while serving as a pilot in the Marine Corps Reserves.
He tragically died in Pensacola, Florida, in a mid-air collision while training the next generation of Marine pilots.
His dedication to service and instruction exemplifies the quiet heroism of those who prepare others for the fight—even at the cost of their own lives.

Militaria Monday
Here we have a ID bracelet named to Walter Kreutz Jr. United States Marine Corps. He died in a training accident in the sky above Pensacola, Florida. Such a loss at a young age of 23.
