www.piedmontalabamamuseum.com

There you can learn more about the new Southern Railroad Depot Museum exhibits and upcoming events! We are now accepting memberships and volunteers. You can book a visit on the site for individual or family visits. Groups can book to rent out the depot for birthday parties, class reunions, etc. The depot is a fantastic place to plan a field trip for your elementary to high school students! Feel free to share with your teacher friends!

An exciting feature of the site is our upcoming archives section. As we begin to digitize all of the hundreds of historic pictures, records, and other artifacts housed at the depot, we will add them to the archive on the site for the public to search and learn about the history of Piedmont from our vast collection. We will also open up to the public to let you send any old photos, documents, or objects to have them listed as well!

Come check out our Hollow Stump/Cross Plains/Piedmont room at our grand opening September 28th, 2025!

Before there was a post office, a large hollow sycamore stump on the edge of town served as the mailbox for Cross Plains, now Piedmont. People left letters inside, and neighbors carried them as they traveled.

Around the life-size stump replica, photos trace how downtown changed from old dirt roads with wooden fronts to our familiar streets and storefronts.

This room pulls together early Piedmont: everyday tools, family keepsakes, and photographs. There is even one of the first light poles in Piedmont! A slide show on a TV shows pictures of old buildings, people, and events.
