WHO WE ARE:
Puppeteers Flora Shepherd, Tom Sarver and Mike Cuccaro created Puppet Happening to promote puppetry throughout the year in Pittsburgh and to establish a new annual festival. Strengthen the local puppet community by providing a forum for puppet performance. 2. showcase both tradition and experimentation in puppetry by providing a platform for visiting companies to present new work. 3.
challenge the divides between theater, dance, fine art, and puppetry. WHEN IS PUPPET HAPPENING? We aim to be active throughout the year, with quarterly cabaret events taking place in galleries, performance venues and alternative spaces. We are planning an Annual Festival for October 2011. WHERE IS PUPPET HAPPENING? Flexibility and portability is our motto. We aim to partner with organizations throughout Western Pennsylvania to utilize existing theater and alternative performance spaces. Our events can happen in parks, coffee shops, street corners or museums. We are occupying a retail space in the Glass Lofts, Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh through March 2011 with shows happening on the 17th and 19th, 8 PM.
