Russ Cox 'Sea Smoke & Sunshine' Oil on Canvas 26"x30"

Cox’s oil paintings evoke the sensory feeling associated with place, nature and experience. Works evolve from a process of applying layer upon layer with multiple glazes to create movement, translucency and depth. These works are deeply meditative, becoming more complex as they unfold.

Scott Wilson 'Culture Clash on Chandler's Wharf (smaller study)' Oil on Canvas 21.5"x17.5"
After a 45 career as a practicing architect, I recently and rather abruptly announced that I had decided to try my hand as an artist- an oil painting artist. Most of my subject choices involve texture. I’m drawn to surfaces that have the character of age or of stress. Whether found in nature or the work of mankind, I like rough fatigued surfaces- rust, decomposing timber, aged and wrinkled faces, snarled plants, the bark of a tree, jagged rocks. How light plays on these surfaces thrills me. And I like painting that you can physically feel- feel the thickness – feel the brush strokes.
I am drawn to water and the skies above it as they reflect and illuminate the texture, soften the rough surfaces, and add life to my work. These interests then draw me toward the urban working waterfront as some of my favorite painting subjects.

Paul Brahms ‘Woman in the Tide’ Acrylic on Canvas 37”x49”
Paul Brahms is a master painter with brush and pallet knife. With simple strokes, he captures details and emotion. His sense of color is that of someone who has spent a lifetime looking and letting the colors reveal themselves with all of their depth and nuance.

Alison Gibbons Watt ‘In Good Company’ Acrylic on Canvas 24”x24”
Alison Gibbons Watt is a Scottish artist based in Newport, Rhode Island, creating contemplative figurative paintings that explore memory, place, and belonging through saturated color, pattern, and intuitive line.

Rooted in both observation and imagination, her paintings move between real and remembered places — frequently referencing locations from her travels, including Southern Spain, where personal and cultural histories intersect. Figures appear in subtle variations, suggesting duality and complementarity, evoking questions around personality, relationships, and the unspoken bonds that connect individuals.gibbonswatt
