Fort Bend Museum Docents

Fort Bend Museum Docents The Fort Bend Museum Docents hosts Candlelight Tours every 1st and 2nd weekend of December! Moore Home to use as a house museum.

“Docent” is an ancient word meaning a person who conducts guided groups through a museum or art gallery and discusses or comments on exhibits. The first meeting of the Fort Bend Museum Docents was held on March 1, 1975 when the Fort Bend History Association was given the John M. A wide variety of volunteer work is offered including general office help, educational school tours, adult tours, house

tours of the Moore Home and Long-Smith Cottage, and helping with special events such as Summer History, Texian Market Days, and the Christmas Candlelight Tour and Gala. The Museum’s programs and events offer you as a Fort Bend Museum Docent many opportunities to share your talents and interests. Day trips to local museums or places of historical interest are offered periodically to increase our knowledge of history, learn more about the workings of other museum and docent programs, and to strengthen our friendships. The Docents look forward to helping the Fort Bend History Association grow and meet the needs of our diverse and growing community.
