It is with a heavy heart we share with you that Chris Max Thompson died unexpectedly on Monday, May 2nd, 2022. His passing is a great loss to the world, and in particular to the Sacramento region's clay and art community.
Chris and I met the 3rd month that Blue Moon Gallery opened. We became friends and grew together me as a Gallery owner and Him as an outstanding potter. Chris was attending his 2nd year at American River College when he brought his work in boxes in the back of his truck to show me. A memory I will keep always.
Love you all so very much,
Carol and John

After we were forced to close the Blue Moon Gallery in December 2014, John and I were eager to find a new location for our Gallery. During our search for a home for the new gallery, the Allied Ceramics Art Institute Gallery in Fair Oaks asked me to curate a few shows, during which I simply fell in love with their Gallery and its artists. I am thrilled that I will indefinitely continue in this role. The Gallery is in a great location, surrounded by several quaint restaurants, and, though small, is absolutely
charming with intimate space and filled with vibrant artists who inspire me daily. They hold ceramic classes open to the public and always seem to have studio artists in residence eager to talk to visitors. This is a gallery that anyone with a casual or serious interest in the arts should visit.

Within the next few months, the ACAI website will offer valuable
information on what we offer to the community. In the meantime, I hope you will visit us on the Third Saturday of each month for our Artist Receptions.

With mixed emotions, I have decided to take the Blue Moon Gallery website down. Blue Moon was a dream come true for John and I, but now it is the time to move on to new adventures. The Blue Moon Gallery was never about a building to house art but a collective of incredible artists and close friends. This part of Blue Moon will always stay in our hearts and will never die. What an incredible journey it has been, and thanks to all of you that have made it possible!

With December here, we realize that there are plenty of us out there who are speeding around while trying to get ready for holiday celebrations or birthdays. We ask you to take a moment as the rest of the world whizzes past to relax by enjoying a bit of art. This month we proudly feature one of our delightful photographers, Jim Klien!

"Whether in Denmark or the streets of Sacramento, people are interesting to watch and photograph. We will never know what this little girl was thinking as she was wondering around the top floor of the Aarhus museum bathed a sea of red, but it’s fun to come up with our own stories. And that’s why I’m increasingly taking people and street photographs: it’s endlessly fascinating wondering what they’re up to, and whether if we were in a similar situation, what we’d be thinking or doing!" ~Jim Klien

With November here and having been experiencing a strangely satisfying crisp chill in the air, we witness the changing colors around us as the season's misty fog slowly rolls in. Autumn is here and there's so many images that come to mind this time of year. We have asked some of our Blue Moon Collective Artists to share some of their Fall related imagery and the results are truly magical. Enjoy the beautiful works of Larry Klink, Dorothy Champion, Kanika Marshall, Linda Nunes and Rhonda Egan.

September has arrived, bringing with it the hustle and bustle of people making plans for late summer events and holiday parties. So while you're taking a moment to relax from the mayhem that may be occuring, we proudly present the colorful works of Christine Capelle and Dawn Star Wood!

Christine Capelle -

Born in Brussels, Belguim where she studied drawing and etching and where she received a diploma in Art history and Archeology from Universite Libre de Bruxelles. Her love for travel and interest in art and old monuments has taken her to explore the world through such places as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Algeria, Cambodia and Costa Rica. With this, some of her work reflects the memories of her travels along rivers, landscapes seen, artifacts admired, and temples explored. These latest paintings are souvenirs of her travels in Spain in 2012.

Dawn Star Wood -

Having been active in her local community while also communicating with artists, not only elsewhere in the United States, but abroad, she was born in Germany to a US military family which encouraged her to persue her passion in learning and the arts. Combining her love for various cultures and religions with her use of watercolors, her pieces are a fusion of multiple ideas working in harmony. Her first overseas collaboration was in 2012 with the editorial assistant for the Salvation Army of Finland's magazine SotaHuuto. She has also been a reoccuring artist participant in the yearly KVIE Art Auction in Sacramento from 2008 to present.

There is tension in the air but even with some clouds on the horizon, there is hope! We share with you some news from Carol Brewer -

"Well we have not finalized the location and I am so sorry for getting your hopes up it was an unexpected thing that happened and hopefully it will be resolved soon. I am moving forward everyday and keeping my chin up."

While we are still working hard behind the scenes, we would like to thank you all for your positive thoughts and good wishes. We will continue keeping you all updated and in the meantime will keep providing you with art and event announcements!
