David Hockney: 1937-2026

“I was aware immediately when I started drawing on iPhone that it was a new medium - and not only a new medium but also a new way to distribute pictures. One quickly realizes that it is a luminous medium and very good for luminous subjects. I began to draw the sunrise seen from my bed; it contained everything you needed. I wouldn’t have drawn the sunset with just a pencil and a piece of paper.
You are drawing on a sheet of glass, really. You can’t really over draw too much on the glass, for instance, as you can on a sheet of paper. But on the glass you can’t. Drawing is going out of style.”

We are saddened to hear about the passing of Alex Caldiero. We had the privilege of working with Alex on numerous projects. Here is a video of Alex performing one of his beloved pieces.

Video taken of Alex Caldiero performing at his 2003 exhibition with Frank McEntire at Art Access Gallery VSA Salt Lake City, Utah titled "After The Tree Has Fallen".

"Caldiero was a Senior Artist in Residence at Utah Valley University, where he spent his time not only lecturing on but bringing the humanities to his students, organizing important events like the Happenings in the Humanities, in which local artists came to speak to students about their craft. When he was not teaching, he was fully immersed in the many disciplines he mastered, including poetry, intermedia art and “sonosophy,” a term he coined that combines poetry, sound and philosophy." -SLUG Mag
