I just wanted to share two stories about Ken, both from the same conference. The first is just about his trust and humanity. We were talking about one of his latest guitars and I had expressed an interest in playing it. He handed it to me, said to go find a nice spot in the gardens of the chateau the conference was at, and to just bring it back when I was done. The second was from his lecture that day. He was busy giving a step by step instruction on how to accomplish his most impressive innovations. Someone at the back raised their hand and asked why he was giving away all his secrets? Ken smiled and said that it was no problem, by the time they had mastered them anyways he’d have come up with something else new to be doing. To be clear, it didn’t come across as a brag or anything like that. It came across kind with an air of him knowing that the sharing lifted the whole community up, so it was worth it. I really wish I had the actual quote, I doubt I did it justice. This second story, 15 plus years later, has had an indelible impact on my life and how I approach knowledge. I cannot thank him enough for that moment.
