Greetings! This past weekend there was a Rotaract Leadership Institute Convention at the Omni Hotel. Ms. Leslie Turner and I had the pleasure of representing our school club. There were many great lessons learned and wonderful growth ideas for the clubs. It also included an delicious meal. I would like to share some of the photos below. UPDATE:

Project Cozy Clothing was a HUGE success! Thanks to all those who donated. Together, we collected 281 items that were donated to the Guadalupe Community Center, located at 1801 W. Cesar E. Chavez Blvd.
Because of such a high volume of people that are in need of assistance everyday, they were very grateful for our donation. The items were delivered to the community center on Thursday, December 3rd. Their staff informed us they had over 80 people stop in that day in need of supplies. A quick tour was given to show us some of what the Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc have to offer to those enduring hardship. There are many programs available to suit the needs of the individual/family and it is a friendly environment filled with volunteers who are understanding and helpful. If you or anyone you know is ever in need, this is a great place to start.
I'd like to thank Emily Deen for helping get the items to the community center. Without your help, we couldn't reach out to our community.

It is week 11 and almost time for a long awaited holiday break. We wanted to thank those members who participated in our events for the quarter and to all who donated to our collection drives.

We'd also like to wish Ramon Garcia a Happy Graduation. Ramon has been a valued member of our club, having aided in many events the past couple of years. Good luck, Ramon, in all of your future ventures! You will be missed and hope that you will continue supporting Rotaract Club!

A newer member of our club, Cynthia Lemond, will also be graduating this quarter. Congratulations and good luck in getting to the place you wish to be. We thank you for your membership, participation, and welcome you to keep in touch with us all.

Rotaract Mixer Night

To those new to our club, thank you all for signing up. We are always looking for strong leaders to help our club help our communities and the world around us! We look forward to having our be a part of our community service club.

Mixer night has been moved to 6-7pm, Friday, December 4th in Conference Room 313. We hope you can make our meeting to discuss what you would like us to accomplish, together as a club, next quarter. If you're running late, don't be shy...Stop by! Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Reminder:

There are only 8 days left to collect for our "Angel Tree Toy Drive." These donated toys will be wrapped up by the Rawlinson Middle School Interact Club, and delivered by them to the students of McDermott Elementary School. They have approximately 800 students, so let's work towards collecting as much as we can to bring a smile to all these children. Ask friends, family, and neighbors if they will contribute a gift. It doesn't cost much to bring a smile to these children. They are asking for toys that are new, gender neutral, and for ages 6-11 years of age. Suggestions can range from puzzles, color books, crayons, games, sport items, arts and crafts, etc. Our donation box is located on the 2nd floor. In the spirit of Christmas, help support our toy drive!

We hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! We are running a bit behind, but it's that time again. Our Mixer has been changed to tomorrow, Friday December 4th. It's still in Conference room 313 and will be held from 6-7pm.

UPDATE:

Mark your calendar for our MOVIE NIGHT MIXER! Rotaract Club will be showing "ACCEPTED" at a new day and location. It has been moved to this FRIDAY, November 20th from 6p-9p, in ROOM 321. Share some laugh with a quick meet, a chance to sign up for membership and snacks with a movie that will leave you saying "Thanks to Cinema."

So stop by, because the quarter will be ending sooner than you think, and you don't want to miss all the fun.

Special thanks to AMY LEWIS (our librarian) for continuing to support Rotaract, Culinary Club, and many more, in our endeavor to keep AI students' pantries full.
Our food pantry donation box is full and we need your help packing boxes to add to our food pantry! We'll be planning to assemble care packages during our December Mixer in Conference room 313. Our date may be changed from the 4th to the 5th of December, with approval. We'll be sure to keep you up to date with any changes made for the quarter.

We thank those who stopped in for Moctober Cinema. We will be hosting a movie night in November as well. We'll be posting the date, time and place later this week.
We also put together goodie bags that were handed out around the school, last Friday for Halloween. Hope you had a chance to grab one!
